Frequently Asked Questions

What is JerusalemU?

Jerusalem U provides dynamic, film-based content and educational programs to organizations and synagogues who seek to increase Jewish knowledge and engagement with Israel among their constituents. We produce award-winning documentary films and create film-based curricula for use among teens, college students, young adults, and adults.

How much time should I plan for each class or episode?

We recommend allowing about 45 minutes to an hour for the classes and episodes in our teen programs. However, class discussions, activities and handouts can be adjusted for your class length.

How long are the films?

Each course is different. The films in our Israel Inside/Out and Step Up for Israel high school courses range from under 5 minutes to 40 minutes, while the films in our Israel Inside U camp program are approximately 10 minutes each.

Who teaches your courses?

Each course features a unique line-up of Israel educators, political insiders, and experts from leading institutions around the world, including Harvard, Princeton, Oxford and MIT. Individual instructor profiles are available on the course homepages.

Can we pick and choose which classes to use, or change the order?

We purposefully ordered the classes and films for best results. However, we also designed our courses to be flexible so that they can meet the different needs of our partners. Therefore, many of the classes and films are independent of each other, so that you may choose the order that works best for you. What ages are the classes appropriate for? While it certainly depends on the individual class, we generally recommend our Israel Inside U camp program for middle school students. Our Step Up For Israel high school mini-course can also be used with late middle school students as well. Our Israel Inside/Out high school course works best in a high school setting.

What do we get when we buy your teen programs?

You will receive a package that includes: DVD package. One-year license to show the films in a group setting. Comprehensive Moderator’s Guide binder or folder with a full curriculum including handouts, resources, engaging activities, simulations, discussions and clear teacher and student directions. Many materials are also accessible online. Marketing and promotional materials. We’ll give you the fliers and emails you need to promote the program and create a buzz in your community.

Do your Israel courses have a political agenda?

Jerusalem U believes that Israel is a legitimate Jewish and democratic state and is the homeland of the Jewish people. We are committed to providing a nuanced, complex view of the history of the State of Israel and the Arab-Israeli and Palestinian-Israeli conflicts.
